School Story or Favorite Memory:

I went to Austin High School in Fall '66 and then came to Reagan in the Spring of '67 after my father kicked me out of his house so I only had one semester there. My good friends Richard Santos, now deceased, Donny Squier, Rod Haywood and Jenny Jackson and family were instrumental in my survival in my new environment. I flunked physics and had a hard time w/ math in general but found out I had an ability to write so I was put in an advanced writing class at UT when I arrived there.

Remember the senior party at Lake Austin park (see Chris Mabie) at which the LCB showed up and everyone but Chris jumped into the Lake fully clothed to avoid detection. Chris took the rap for possession and the rest of waddled out after the "bust" and drove a LONG ways to Georgetown to "sleep" in a work trailer. Anyone else remember this event?

Rod was my close friend and brother from the day we met at the registrar's office at Austin High School in 1964. He and his family, including Don, his older brother, and Florence, his mother, had arrived from a turbulent situation in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was a kind and caring person during his life and always had a smile for friends and strangers. He was a talented musician that played many different instruments but had mastered the bass guitair early on and played in several bands and jammed with friends up until his last days. He found great happiness after his marriage to his wife, Carol, and son, Daniel, in Bethlehem, New hampshire. I will miss you dearly good buddy. Fare thee well
